WHO AM I ?
"I" refers to the personality as a combination of the five aggregates (form, feeling, sensation, perception, consciousness) or the brain that analyzes data through the senses such as the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, skin, and mind to create perception and understanding.
Physically: You are the way your body and brain function.
Psychologically: You are the combination of thoughts, memories, and emotions.
Visually: You are the "observer" who experiences life.
In short, "I" is the identity formed by the combination of your experiences, thoughts, and body.
The "I" who is awake. The "I" who sleeps and dreams. The "I" who lives in a deep sleep without dreams. I understand that this is me. So who is this "I"?
There is one question that has tormented man for tens of thousands of years. That is, whose creation he is. They have created a large number of models about this creator.
Man, who is very interested in the creator, does not even want to think about creation. At least - who is the "I" that I define as "I"? - Only a handful of social concepts have even bothered to build a model on some logical basis.
Personally, I am of the opinion that there are many benefits for us in gaining an understanding of "I" before searching for "my creator". But here too, all we can do is build a model about the creator as well as "I". The only method that can realize its rightness and wrongness is self-experience.
What we do with science is to build models for a concept. I explained this in a previous article. In the name of science, man explains universal concepts based on the built model and builds the tools necessary for existence (technology). When a model fails to fulfill these two requirements, man changes his model as needed. Then, through the new model, he tries to answer the questions that the previous model failed to answer. This is the constantly changing nature of science that has existed for about two million years. Therefore, the statements made by science as "a lie", "a flat lie", etc. have no value or meaning.
While man constantly changes the models that build science for his own benefit, man tries to change himself for the model that he has built in the name of religion. This is the main difference between science and religion. But the model that exists in the name of religion also changes slowly over time. It often happens not for the benefit of the masses, but for the needs of the rulers or priests.
Let us now return to the "I".
Of the three states of waking, dreaming and deep sleep, only the waking state is called the real world or the real world. But we need to think deeply about whether this definition makes sense.
Now let us think of a piece of gold. You can make a necklace from it. You can melt the necklace into a ring. You can melt the ring into a bracelet. The necklace, the bracelet, and the bracelet are not one. But they are not one. Because all three contain the same gold. Gold is not the necklace, the ring, or the bracelet. But they are not one. Because we see the same gold in three forms.
Now I will build a model. Let us imagine the material entity "I" as gold, and the necklace, the ring, and the bracelet; the three states of waking, dreaming and deep sleep.
If I were to ask you, "Show me the I that you call myself," many of you would certainly point to your body. But what you are pointing to is the food cell that is visible to the five senses.
The boundaries of your body are defined by the very small part of the electromagnetic spectrum that your eyes can perceive (the visible range). If you could somehow perceive a wider range of frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum, the shape of the phenomenon that you call "I" would be very different. Often, the distinction you make between "I" and "not I" would be an extremely complex problem.
We have the same problem with the sense of touch. For example, air is not felt by our touch. The reason is not that there is no such thing as air, but that the air particles cannot generate a large enough electrical signal for the brain to perceive. But when air molecules come at a fast speed and hit the skin, we feel it. We define this as wind.
Similarly, there are many molecules, atoms, electrons around our body that we can define as belonging to the body. If these were sensitive to us, our body would be much larger. This means that we should understand that the food cell is a complete definition relative to our sensory system.
Do you know yourself?
Usually, a question that we often ask someone else is what kind of person I am? What kind of person am I? What do you think about me? Here are questions like this that you must have asked yourself at some point in your life. I am the same as the one writing this article. That is, what kind of person am I really? What kind of person? You must also think so out of desire to know through another person.
We all want to know who we are. We all want to know how someone else feels about us, how we see us. But the question is, who do we really know about ourselves? What do we say. Can someone else really read me? Can they understand me? Apart from me who knows me. Is there anyone else who knows me as much as I do? No. No one will ever be able to understand or know me as well as I do. So I think who am I? What kind of person? The best person to ask is themselves. Many people today misunderstand this. When someone knows themselves better than themselves, they judge themselves through the eyes of others.
Some people think that to know themselves, they need to meet an astrologer. To know about our characteristics, to know about our behavior. But could he tell you who you are, to tell you what kind of person you are, our external appearance and characteristics may be able to tell you, but, except for themselves. Who has the ability to read our inner mind (inner mind), it is really like a dark cave full of secrets. It is always locked and closed. No one can go in, when I open it. Because I have the key.
No one else can tell you exactly about you. That is true. So let's ask ourselves who I am, what kind of person I am. Then one may think that when one compares their behavior, actions, and thoughts, I am a sensitive person. A very emotional person. Or a person with a strong heart. I always look at life positively. A selfish person who only thinks about himself. A person who is difficult to understand. A simple and simple person. These are the characteristics of a person. But these characteristics vary from person to person.
We are used to asking others who they are and what kind of person they are, but we have never asked ourselves who we are, who know ourselves very well. Have you really thought about what kind of person I am? Most people's answer is no. Perhaps one or two of us have asked this question. Then we may have laughed and not given an answer. This is the best time to think about it. The most important thing is to have a good understanding of ourselves. To be understanding. To know what kind of person we are. Often we don't think about such things. We don't really like to think about it. We are more used to looking for others than looking for ourselves. To define others.
He is like this, he is a thief. He is a murderer. A troublemaker. He is a very good person. A human being. We have this amazing ability to understand and find out about others. So who knows if anyone else says the same to us. Or if we actually do the same. People are very quick to blame those around them. It's their fault, it's their fault, it's their fault, we say we must be making mistakes. But we never want to say or think that we are wrong.
Therefore, it is very important to understand who is lying to whom, what they say, what they do, and what they think while living. If we abandon ourselves and look for others, we will also lose ourselves without realizing it. That is why when there is a problem, we say that I cannot understand myself at this time. But you need to have a conclusion about yourself. It is very important to live knowing who I am and what kind of person I am while living. Just as a swan separates milk from water, we need to see the good and the bad in us. We need to be able to separate them. If you cannot get a sense of yourself, you will undoubtedly have to face many challenges and difficulties in life. When dealing with others, mutual understanding and understanding of yourself are also very important in maintaining relationships. If you see, recognize, and understand like a mirror, it is easy to live life, and if you do not penetrate further and further, your life story may end with a tragedy that you do not even know. Basically, the reason for these problems is because we are all different from each other. For some reason, I am different from others. This is what personal inequality is. In this world, there are no two identical people, let alone two identical grains of sand, as the saying goes. So we have to deal with people in this society. So, we need to have an understanding and idea about ourselves. That is very valuable. Because of this inequality, there are often differences, problems, and issues between people. Because someone else thinks differently than I do. They look at things differently. Their views, opinions, and ideas are different. If we have an idea about ourselves, we can say that I am this kind of person, who lives by these principles, who believes in these things, who thinks this way, and who wants to think this way. If that happens, we can quickly form an idea that this person is compatible with me. Or that someone is incompatible. Because because we know ourselves, it is easy to recognize that I am like this and that his ideas are also like mine. Living on recognition is easy. Problems and obstacles are minimal.
It should be understood that most people have very few similarities. There are many inequalities. Differences. Incompatibilities. So what we need to do is try to reconcile the incompatibilities. We should minimize our relationships with incompatible people and choose compatible people, the same is true when choosing a friend, a partner, a companion. The obstacles, problems, and controversial events that arise in life are created by this incompatibility. Ideas may not match, ways of thinking may change. Incompatibilities always create problems. They bring sadness. They cause frustration, breakdowns, and in short, we forget to even laugh at ourselves.
So when dealing with these different people, we need to be able to get to know each other, as well as ourselves, and the way we think. It is more important to have one compatible person than to have a thousand incompatible people. So think about who I am. Get an idea through our past, present, future, our dreams, failures, and inconsistencies. From there, conclude who I am and what kind of person I am. Then you can go far beyond what you can see. To go on a journey, you need to know yourself. Because even though there are people around us cheering, we are the only ones who fall. There is a saying that we are the shadow of our own hands. Before loving and accepting others, love yourself. Respect yourself. Accept yourself with all your heart. That understanding is very valuable to go on a long journey. That belief encourages us day by day and forever.
